Head of Jury

Co-founder/Chief Creative Officer

GOVT

To see something worth blowing our heads off

It’s been 12 years since Aaron co-founded GOVT Singapore and he has made tremendous contributions to the success story of the agency. However, his true impact comes in the form of showing his people what defines true creative leadership. Someone who leads from the front and has an incredible sense of ownership and pride, and how nothing is too small for him to roll up his sleeves and get dirty. Today, he has worked on blue-chip, FMCG, technology and entertainment portfolios such as Tiger Beer, Netflix, OCBC Bank, Julie’s Biscuits, History Channel, Nestle, Unilever, The National Gallery Singapore and Airbnb. Aaron has picked up multiple awards from International and Local shows such as Cannes Lions, D&AD, LIA, Spikes Asia, Adfest, Clio, The Webby Awards, AME, Adstars, EFFIES and Creative Circle Awards.

Thomas Yang

Executive Creative Director

DDB

In the Design Category, originality and craft are the heartbeats of creativity. I'm looking for work that not only breaks the mold but also shows meticulous attention to detail, elevating ideas into art.

Thomas discovered advertising after graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 1992. Since his big break in 1998 when he won Best New Art Director at the Singapore Creative Circle Awards, Thomas Yang has gone on to bag over 400 regional and international awards like D&AD, Cannes, The One Show, Spikes Asia, AdFest, Clio, London International Awards and the Creative Circle Awards. In 2011, he was named Creative Director of the Year at the Hall Of Fame Awards, and one of the top 10 creative directors in Cannes. Besides winning awards, Thomas has helped to judge at global shows over the years like D&AD, The Cannes Lions Festival, Spikes Asia Festival of Creativity, London International Awards. Thomas believes that strategic thinking precedes craft. And that the mark of a great art director is flexibility - having a design sense that is unrestricted by any style. As a hardcore cyclist as well, Thomas has combined his love for the sport and his passion for design into a collection of limited-edition cycling-related prints called “100copies”. As a founder/creative director of 100copies Bicycle Art, is already a runaway hit winning The Grand Prix in Asian Creative Awards held in Japan and Award of Excellence in Communication Arts for illustration both in 2015. But more than all his other accomplishments, Thomas is proudest of two Grand Prix—his lovely daughters.

Ai Khim Tan

Lecturer

SIM-RMIT

#MakeMemoriesGreat!

Some days Ai Khim will teach and share, and some days she minds her focus on Art Making. If it's personal, you won't be able to find her for awhile... She likes to explore and learn about the ever evolving Art processes. She also believes that READING is good because it gives us wisdom but only if you look beyond the words and into the insights. People say that being C R E A T I V E is drawing well but... frankly it is not. Dabbling with various materials helps her understand, grow and appreciate things in different angles. Occasionally, she gifts her creative services to design and illustrate story books for the inclusive children community. Ai Khim hopes that the books that her team creates will expand globally one day. One of her books made it to the IBBY award list and she is very glad that it did!

Astri Williana Nursalim

Creative Director

Kinetic Singapore

Work that's worth fighting for

Never one to shy away from challenges, Astri Nursalim is a designer whose work crosses lines both literal and figurative. Starting out in advertising in 2011, her time in the industry has seen her taking on projects ranging from design and advertising, social and branding, to the spatial and the experiential.Calling herself an accidental designer, Astri recalls dreaming of becoming a doctor since she was a child but her failure at the med school admission test put an end to that. She then jumped into design because she thought all you needed to do was draw. Pleasantly surprised to find that design encompasses so much more, she has never looked back since. With Kinetic Singapore since 2013, Astri has risen to assume the mantle of Creative Director. Her work has received recognition at international creative shows like the D&AD Awards, Cannes Lions Awards, The One Show, Young Guns and Tokyo Type Directors Club.
